Mandy’s Monthly – April & May 2013
Since our last chat Daryn has finished up the West Coast swing and is now racing in the Mid West before we soon head to Pennsylvania. The team scored their 3rd win of the year at Perris Speedway in California. It was a great way to finish out the CA Swing.
It has been nice to get back to the track again for me and Taylor! The California swing is hard not only because of the travel but trying to stay up on the West Coast time zone is even trickier. Most nights I didn’t go to sleep until after 3, but at least Taylor is on racer’s hours anyway. Our schedule is definitely different than most kids her age, except a few of our racing friends.
Our first race back was going to be Paducah but the rained forced us to make Haubstadt, IN the first race back on the road. At Haubstadt the team got a flat tire midway thru the race but rallied back for a 15th place finish. Next up was Oklahoma, a one race weekend since the Saturday night race was flooded out at Pevely, MO. Salina, OK is usually a great race track but with rain all day Friday and even sprinkles into Saturday the track was really fast and one groove. It was great to see all of our family and friends at the race and to see all of the support we get from that area.
Eldora was last weekend and the Great Clips team scored their 4th victory of the season!! Friday night the team struggled but they put that behind them and on Saturday night started in the 7th position and won! Taylor was excited because the Eldora “Princesses” were in victory lane and she liked that she could see herself in the reflective part of the trophy! J
The boys were in town all week and Taylor kept them entertained a few nights…chatting and showing them all of her toys. Daryn hopped in the truck for this weekend at Elko and Knoxville, but we will be headed to PA next week. We are excited to see our friends and fans in that area. (I’m also happy to get to go to Wegman’s grocery store…I know it is weird but I like that place!)
We are headed to the Speedway – IMS tomo to watch the start of practice for the Indy 500. We wish Dave and HInch the best of luck and we hope to be watching you boys kissing those bricks at the end of the month!
The racing is going to be picking up soon with mid week races and Taylor and I are ready to be at the track!
