Pittman Returns To Contend The Classic

New Kasey Kahne Racing recruit Daryn Pittman will return to Australia in January to pilot the Sprintshack supported NQ42 Maxim of Aprile Racing.

In a deal brokered over quite a few months, it was sealed at the 2012 Knoxville Nationals while Aprile Racing Crew Chief and Sprintshack manager “Glenno” Inglis was over there on a research and development mission. “Glenno and I have always had a great relationship,” Pittman said. “We have worked together every year since 2000. He knows my driving style and what I like the car to feel like. He basically knows what I am going to say about the car before Icome off the track. Glenno is a great friend and  I enjoy working with him. When (car owner) David Aprile called and offered me the drive, there was no hesitation. I know that they have great equipment and they are really good people!”

Daryn will be joined over here by his wife Mandy, in what is a very special time in their lives. “It is our 10th wedding anniversary in December and we were married in Australia,” explained Pittman. “So for her to be able to come back with me was important.”

Pittman will contend both nights of round 7 of the World Series Sprintcars at Sydney Speedway on January 18th and 19th. The team will then venture down south to run The Presidents Cup at Avalon, and The Kings Challenge at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway. Pittman’s Aussie stint will conclude with the running of The 41st Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at the high banks of Premier Speedway Warrnambool over the Australia Day long weekend. “The Classic is the biggest event in Australia that brings drivers from all over the world,” said Pittman. “It’s Australia’s version of the Nationals, so everyone comes prepared and ready to win! I need to thank the Aprile family for bringing me over to compete in these races. I hope to thank all the team personally in Victory Lane while I am over there! ”

Aprile Racing would like to thank Sprintshack Australia, Healthpoint Chemist Group, Eveready Technologies, HDT Central Queensland, Total Hose Mackay and BAWD Property Group for all their support throughout the racing season.
