Mandy’s Monthly –March

Well with the spring like weather the past week it is hard to believe it is only the end of March!
This past month the Heffner team has had some ups and downs….one trip to PA led to a DNS and a DNF.  The motor would not run in hot laps or the heat race…apparently a fitting o-ring lodged itself in the wrong place.  The next weekend the team rebounded with a 2nd place and a WIN at Selinsgrove!  Daryn really likes Selinsgrove and does well there…I wish they had races there every week!!

The normal PA weekends started this week with The Grove opener seeing 40+  410 sprint cars!  For a local show I might add….a really loaded field!  The feature did not have much passing and Daryn started 13th and finished 11th.  Rain won on Saturday!READ MORE

Well – Race Season has officially started!   Daryn started out the year on a high note putting the #27 in victory lane in Screven, GA for the All Star Opener.  It was a great start for the season.  The weather was FREEZING the second night and the wind didn’t help the race conditions. I would like to thank Sports Plus Video for the DVD of the race …Taylor loves watching her daddy win!READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly – January

Happy New Year!     I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and that each of us has a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

December was an extremely crazy month for the Pittman family!  I fire myself as the “family planner”….we sold our house and moved into a new house the beginning of December. The new house is a bit bigger with a shop so that Daryn can have the motorhome at the house and of course the midget.  It was a huge blessing as our house was not even listed on the market!  In today’s economy that is unheard of….if anyone in the Indy area needs a realtor just ask.READ MORE

Daryn Pittman Prepares for Chili Bowl, Australia and 2012 Season

As the holiday season is winding down, the 2012 racing season is about to kick off in a big way for Daryn Pittman.  Up first, the 26th Annual Chili Bowl Nationals are just around the corner.  One quick stroll through the pit area proves the event is a virtual “who’s who” in dirt track racing.  “I love the Chili Bowl.  We race 90-100 nights a year and I think the Chili Bowl is the funnest race of them all.  I only get to race midgets once a year and they are an absolute blast to drive.  Not to mention, it is the one race a year I get to go wheel-to-wheel with some of the greatest drivers in the sport,” said Daryn. Mandy’s Monthly!   November

Well, the 2011 race season has ended for us and we are already planning our first race in 2012…Chili Bowl in the #21 Bob Hurley Ford.

Since the last monthly Daryn was runner up in the National Open but lead almost the whole race.  The 5 late race yellows did not help us and Jason got around us on the last restart!  (Congrats to the Meyers team on the National Open and on a 2nd Championship ….good friends and good people….well deserved!)  It was the first time Taylor listened to the races on Dirtvision and it was so funny.  She was yelling “Go Daddy you can do it!”  Every time Johnny Gibson or Bruce Ellis would say Pittman she would say “GO GO GO”  and bang on the table as was her mother!  LOL!READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly!   September

I As I write we are headed to PA in the “moteyhome” to the National Open this weekend at Williams Grove.  It is PA’s biggest race of the year with the winner taking home $50,000!   We have high hopes and hope for good qualifying laps as that really sets your whole night.

Since the last monthly Daryn has won 3 more races and the season total is up to 13 – same as last year!  We surely do hope to add to that number in the next few weeks as the season winds down.  This weekend is the National Open, next weekend with WOO, then Grove/Lincoln, Hagerstown, Georgia then Charlotte.  It’s hard to believe the 2011 season is already winding down!

Mandy’s Monthly!- Kville Recap

I believe in my husband…whether he starts last or on the pole of the race I think he can win every race, but the one race you dream of adding to your resume is the Knoxville Nationals….and it was sooo close. After the A Main hotlaps on Saturday of the 51st Knoxville Nationals Daryn was 18th quick out of 20 cars.  When the guys asked him what to change to make the car better his response was, “I know it sounds crazy but its driveable…”  He was very calm and relaxed considering it was the biggest race of the year!  I was thinking to myself well our realistic goal in attending the Nationals was to make the show and we did that with a great qualifying effort and prelim race but I also wanted Daryn to at least get a top ten.  We were starting 5th in the big show and after falling back on the initial start Daryn started passing cars each lap.  I then grew very nervous…..I was thinking we have a chance!   He was the fastest car on the racetrack and catching that #15 car lap by lap and then the red flag for fuel….this was actually a good thing for us as we had a right rear going down.  We were all excited about the restart and Daryn  actually took the lead on lap 28….it was amazing if only he could have beat Schatz to turn one maybe just maybe we could have held on.   After a few laps of gaining ground again Daryn came out of turn 2 and hit the back straightway fence which caused us to get passed by a couple of other cars.  It was a great effort and awesome driving by my husband…if I do say so myself.  We ended the night in the 5th position which is remarkable, but to be that close and actually feel like you have a chance was unbelievable!!READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly!- July

Well as the heat is 101 outside today we are headed to Knoxville.  It will be so nice to get there early and race the 360 and 410 Nationals.  Daryn will be running 2 cars on Saturday – the 360 and 410 All Star Show.  My dad will also be there with his car #88 and driver Tim Crawley so Taylor will have 2 cars to cheer for this weekend. Hello Summer!   I am for sure that spring completely escaped us this year, but oh well its almost the middle of race season already.  Since my last monthly Daryn won the World of Outlaws race at Williams Grove, which was great to be there for.  It was an awesome night and then we went onto win the next 2 races- Lernerville and the All Star Show at Mercer, PA. Pittman Powers Posse Past World of Outlaws at Williams Grove

Leppo, Sides round out podium as rivals gear up for Morgan Cup Challenge

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - May 13, 2011 - For weeks this showdown at Williams Grove Speedway featuring the nationally touring World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series taking on the Pennsylvania Posse has been brewing. It's fitting, then, that Daryn Pittman, a driver from Oklahoma who had been on the Outlaws circuit for years before becoming a regular in the Keystone State, captured the checkered flag on Friday night in the heart of Posse Country.  READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly!- May

Well since I last wrote the weather has warmed up and the sunshine is out …today that is!  Daryn’s racing in PA has been few as rain showers seemed to follow the team wherever they go.  He has raced only a handful of times in PA since the last monthly.   We had Easter at home as Daryn had an early flight so that we could go to church and have Easter dinner with our friends.   It was a nice day!   READ MORE

Daryn Pittman & Heffner Racing Headed to Oklahoma!

While most Oklahoma race fans were disappointed that the World Of Outlaws race was cancelled Saturday night at the Salina Highbanks -  Daryn Pittman was waiting for the announcement of the make up date:  Tuesday May 3rd!  The rescheduled event allows Daryn to bring his #27 Heffner Racing Enterprises car to the Salina High Banks on May 3rd.  Car owner, Mike Heffner, is allowing Daryn and Sean to make the 19 hour trip south west so that Daryn has the opportunity to race close to home again.   “I am so excited to return close to home to race in front of my family and friends.  I have not been able to race in front of most of them since 2004.  I need to thank Mike Heffner for allowing me to bring the team to Oklahoma.  The team is based out of Allentown, PA so Oklahoma is not exactly close!  This would not have been possible without help from Danny’s Auto Salvage, Hop & Sack Convenience Stores and BPG special thanks to them for coming on board to sponsor our trip,” says Daryn.  READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly!- March

Hello Everyone!   I was hoping that spring was here, but with the last couple of weeks cancellations due to extremely cold temps …I’m not convinced.  Daryn has been driving back and forth to PA for the races the last few weeks.  It stinks…he usually leaves Friday morning drives all day then drives home after the races Saturday night.  Needless to say I spend most of the weekend worrying about him racing and driving all those hours.  Thankfully he has had a few passengers along the way so that has made it a lot easier on me:  THANKS Lynton, Shane and Eric!  …READ MORE

Happy New Year Everyone! Well, the Pittman household has been crazy as usual with Chili Bowl and preparing for the upcoming season. We ventured to Tulsa early for the Chili Bowl to put the Bob Hurley Ford midget on display at the dealership and to spend a little extra time with Daryn’s parents. Chili Bowl was a fun week and it was great to watch Daryn get so excited even just to hot lap. He was like a kid in a candy store everytime he got out of that car. He would be grinning ear to ear saying “these things are so much fun to drive!” He is already looking at more midget races…READ MORE

Well the Christmas lights are on the house, the tree is up and decorated, and presents are going under the tree - It is time for Santa!  I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner.  It seems like we just finished racing - although for us it never ends!!

We had a week off over Thanksgiving for a family vacation with Daryn's parents and his brother's family.  The girls, only 1 day apart, had a blast.  Although, our latest sleep in was 8:30 since Taylor literally woke up saying "swimming!"  We had a great time and it was nice to be in warm weather!!.READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly!- November

Hello! The race season is officially over for the Heffner #27 team, but the winter is just heating up. As Daryn and I looked at our winter schedule we have about 3 weeks off with no plans – and about 4 weeks without racing.

The end of the season ended on a high note at Charlotte, NC at the World Finals with the WOO and a 2nd at Susky. Daryn qualified well at NC and raced his way into the dash both nights. The team had a strong 2nd and 3rd place finish with the best in the business – not a bad weekend considering the start of it was not so good. The boys broke down on the way to NC and we stopped by in the motorhome and picked up the race trailer – special thanks to the people who repaired the truck and drove it down on Saturday to the races.READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly!- October

Hello! Well -- race season is officially winding down. We are back to weekends only and hardly any travel for me and Taylor. We are going to Charlotte in the motor home but until then we are at home while Daryn is racing in PA this weekend, CA next weekend, MD the following weekend, and then finally Charlotte.

It seems that all of our friends are having children: Congrats to the Meyer’s Family, Saldana Family, Tatnell Family, Adams Family, and the Drew Kruck Family (and Grandaddy Reeve) on their new additions. READ MORE

Taylor had a blast and showcased all her talents for her grandparents and their friends. . READ MORE

Mandy’s Monthly!- August

Hello! It is hard to believe that it is August already…but the heat tells me it is definitely August. The last month has been a dry spell for the Pittman Family win wise, but with all the racing friends that are injured it is hard to complain. Best Wishes go out to the Wayne Johnson Family for his leg injury, Travis Rilat Family for his burn injuries, and TMAC’s family for his leg injuries. Hopefully these guys make a Speedy Recovery. As a wife it is scary and hard to hear stories about injured friends as most racing families depend solely on the racing income to support their family. I challenge each of the readers to buy one of these guy’s shirts and show your support for their recovery efforts. READ MORE
