Winner’s Circle x 2!!

To say that Keen Motorsports and driver Daryn Pittman have been disappointed with their 2009 campaign would be putting it mildly.  The team has had some success, but their inconsistency has been a thorn in their sides most of the season, but all that is beginning to change.   With only a few months left in the season the Keen Team made the change to a Maxim chassis this past week, and the first night out put it in victory lane not once but TWICE!

The crew drove to Springfield, IL this past week and picked up the new weapon and spent countless hours this week building the new car.  “The guys have put in alot of time and effort this year building and rebuilding cars to find something that worked for us, but I feel that this new chassis and our new Penske shocks are the answers we have been looking for,” stated driver Daryn Pittman while standing in victory lane at Williams Grove Speedway this past Friday night for the Triple 20’s.

The team started the night with a disappointing 16th qualifying effort which put the team starting in B Main in the pole position.  “I know that we did not qualify as well as we would have liked, but after looking back running the B helped us set up our car for the features,” stated Daryn.    In the first of 3 features Friday night the #17 Peterbilt machine lined up in the 16th position and finished in the 10th position after a non stop 20 laps. “ In the second feature, a little luck shined our way and we started on the pole.  I feel that the car was just ok in the second feature, but even when I made mistakes I still felt fast,” said Daryn.  The Keen Team led all 20 laps and captured the team’s third Win of the season with a victory margin of a front wheel.   In the last feature momentum was on the #17 Hunter Truck Sales team’s side as Pittman lined up in the fifth position, but as the green flag dropped he quickly raced into the third position.   After a mid race caution Daryn used a slide job to take over the top spot, and then quickly stretched his lead to four car lengths at the checkered flag & our 4th Win.  “It was a great night for our team & to win the Jack Gunn Memorial Race was an added bonus.  I feel like we have all the tools we need now to turn our season around.  We were really good in the last feature and hopefully we can keep the ball rolling and rack up some more victories this year,” stated Daryn in victory lane.

The team continued their Labor Day weekend at Lincoln on Saturday starting 19th in the feature and finishing 14th.  On Sunday the team returned to Williams Grove & ended the night with a drive line failure.  On Monday, the boys went to Port Royal  and started the feature 12th and was up to third in the final laps to have the wing side panel collapse and finished 4th.  “I feel like we made a lot of progress this weekend.  We are still figuring out this new chassis, but I think we have found a good combination here,” Daryn said after the weekend results.

The Keen Motorsports team will again head to Port Royal for the Tuscarora 50 this weekend.  Stay tuned to www.keenmotorsports.net and www.darynpittman.com for our latest results.

Special thanks to Peterbilt, Hunter Truck Sales, and Shell Rotella T for their continued support.
